I've been looking forward to building this piece. It's a fairly simple but effect design. I've built it so many times in my head I was ready to get started.
First I built the aluminum arch. I'm modifying the flap lever per the Jan 2002 suggestion. The modification will allow the flap handle to be pulled to the next notch without having to press the button. The button will only need to be pressed to lower the flaps.
Next I cut and notched as necessary the parts for the handle. Then I welded the parts together.
