I welded the strips to the bottom of the pedals. My concern of the 3rd from the left pedal was a non-issue - no problem.
I made the bearings and lock rings for the ends and welded them in place. One end is 3/4" and the other is 7/8". For the bearing at the 3/4" end (right side) I added a .062 layer to the bottom to match the other end when bolted to the floor. I haven't seen that addressed before but without the added .062 the right side would be 1/16" lower than the left side. Probably not very noticeable and probably not that big of a deal but I couldn't get past it without making both ends even.
I started playing with the bent tube for the brakes too. I made a layout on the table to match. I used a 1/2" conduit bender but I couldn't get it quite radiused enough. I used a little heat to complete the bend and it worked out good. One down three to go...
