Brief Description:  Repair of brake exilt line hole in LG mount

Contacted the local EAA technical advisor, Gill Alexander, about the oversized hole in the flange of the Landing Gear Mount. I was concerned that there might be a structural issue. He told me that the flange was plenty large enough to accommodate the 5/8" hole. Moving on I decided on the following fix. First I installed a AN960-716 washer between the skin and flange to give the fitting a backer plate to tighten agains. I purchased a 5/8" OD x 3/8" ID x 1/8" thick nylon washer from the local Ace Hardware. From there I enlarged the 3/8" ID to 7/16" to allow the fitting a secure fit. I then installed the nylon washer in to the hole ensuring a tight fit and then installed the AN837-4D fitting and AN924-4D nut to secure the fitting. The result was a tight and secure fitting with no wollowing or unwanted movement. While I was happy with the outcome, I was not to thrilled wasting 2 hours on something just because I didn't read and interpret the plans correctly. Lessoned learned.
