Brief Description: Spar riveting - and more learning.
Today I did more riveting of the front spar. All was well and happily riveting along, then realized that I put the wrong rivets into the dmpled part of the spar. Grrr...! Another lesson in rivet removal. First came out easily. Second wasn't as nice. I finally got them out and put in the correct flush rivet. More problems. The end of the rivet - even though it was the right length, bent over. Not good. Again I removed these since I wasn't happy with the shop heads on them. Some research and questions asked and I realized I did it backwards.
- Rivet gun should be on the factory (flat) side. - Hoild bucking bar on the SHOP side.
You won't bend them this way. Another lesson learned!
Ooops. Should have been a flush head rivet in that dimple.
