After confirming with the internet, forums, questions, and a completed RV7 visit, I was convinced that I could go with the riveting. I did it in small sections with alternating clekos holding the parts together. I always try to have at least one cleko on each side of the hold that I'm working on. I want to make sure there are no gaps in the parts. Agian, the pnuematic squeezer is a wonderful tool! I like how when you squeeze the rivet in place, there is a little whisp of smoke from the heat of the metal being mashed under 3,000 lbs of force. (Easily amused I guess). After about an hour, I stood back and admired the work. Looks pretty with the green prime and gold rivets sticking out.
Preparing to rivet. I put a few in at a time, cleko each side and go for it.
Done! The shop side looking all even.
The part of the spar that will be seen when peeking behind the elevator.
