As I wait for a drill to arrive from Ebay (the other drill issue ended up being a bent shaft, so I'll see if I can get that fixed under warranty hopefully), I started working on the deburring of the left horizontal stablizer holes. As I was moving thing around to make room on the bench, the spar fell off onto the floor - ribs and all. Arrgh! I didn't see any major damage, but there was a ver shallow dent in the flange of the HS-603 rear spar. I was able to fix it with gentle pressure with my fingers for the most part, but it was still bugging me. I put a bucking bar behind and tapped with a hammer a little to see if that would flatten it out. It mostly worked, but then noticed some marks on the flange from the hammer. Nothing was sharp or anything, just there. I made sure it was smooth with the Scotchbright pad as you can see in the photo. My latest question topic for VansAirforce forum.
Deburring holes, you really get a chance to catch mistakes also since you need to examine and smooth every hole. So I came across an elongaged hole in the H-706 tip rib. Not sure how this happened, but must have been a little misaligend when match drilling the skin holes.
Yep. Another question for the forum. Large rivet or an order from Vans Aircraft. That is the question.
