Brief Description: Elevator trailing edge bending brake.
Next step is to bend the elevator so you have a nice even trailing edge. There is a lot of talk about this on the forums, and a few different methods people have used. Some guys say it took a lot of force and even jumping on the wood to bend their elevator (later they found that they didn't have it far enough back). A trip to the local Lowes hardware for parts. The wood wa a cheap 8 foot pice of 2x8 wood that I cut in half. I have 6 hinges holding it together. I read that you can' thave too many hinges, so if you use at least 6 you'll get a good even bend on the edge. I chose to put my hinges on the narrow edge of the wood so I could pinch it with the longer side. To make the hinges lay flat, I used a rotary saw to dig out room for the hinge pivot for a nice flat attachment when screwed in.
Held it in place with clamps to hold it for attaching hinges.
A girlfriend who comes with cool tools is esential. I found a roto saw in her toolbox!
