Brief Description: Rivet removal practice from elevators.
After putting in the order with Van's for new elevator skins, I had spent some time practicing to remove rivets from the skin and the stiffeners. The rivets that were bent over, were a problem getting out since they always seemed to leave an elongated hole that was "squished" in the dimple. I've found on the straight rivets, it could even drill all the way through as long as I kept it centered and still get a pretty decent hole when the rivet popped out the back.
I'll maybe use the old stiffeners for some kind of cool aviation themed picture frames or something. Nothing will be wasted, just used for something else interesting and airplane geeky!
