Moving ahead from yesterday's dimple accident, I figured I would get as much done on the horizontal stablizer as I could while trying to figure out what to do about the dimple hole in the skin. I think this part is something that many builders have forgotten until later since Van's didn't write this step into the assembly instructions. There has to be a notch cut in the lower center part of the rear spar so the elevator will move up and down freely. Pretty easy step, simply put a notch one inch wide in each of the ends of the spar, grind it smooth and call it done.
This is the right spar, just held this way for clarity.
