Brief Description:  Drilling the HS405/404 to the spar

I went out of sequence a little on this one. Origionally, the manual said to drill holes in the flanges before installing them. I found some ideas on some forums and other builder sites where the builder set all the ribs and skin in place, then tightly clamped everything in place. This way it was easy to keep the holes lined up well without a mismatch somewhere along the way.

I tried this way, and it worked well. Many people end up with a hole too close to the edge and may have to buy a new rib. I clamped the HS-405 andHS-404 ribs in place on the spar and clamped them with the holes shonwing the 1/2 flange line. I may have gotten something slightly off on the HS-405 flange since my holes ended up a little farther inboard on the flange (if that makes sense!). There is still a lot of "meat" around them despite being a little closer to the bend, but that shouldn't be a problem.
