Brief Description: Reinforced trim tab horn; Drilled trailing edge
My tech advisor pointed out that the elevator trim tab horn is prone to tear-out (or at least elongating the hole). To counter that we sandwiched a stainless steel sheet between the two aluminium horns. Fixed them both with a two-component epoxy and rivetted them together. The hole pattern in the base of the horn (where it attaches to the trim tab skin) is now a bit off. Plan on drilling one set of holes to the normal (concentric) size of #40, and enlargening the other set of holes to #30, dimpling for a 3/32" rivet and using the NAS 1097 (oops) rivets. Drilled the trailing edge wedge of the left elevator and CS'ed the holes. Deburred and dimpled all other holes of the left elevator.
