Brief Description:  Rib Jig - Cap Strip Former

I had previously cut out the top cap strip former for bending the top cap strips after steaming them. The top cap strip has the most severe curves. I exaggerated the curve at the top by about 1/2". When I took the cap strips out and placed them in the jig it went well. The fit into place without much effort.

I tried to use un-steamed bottom cap strips. It worked, but they were somewhat difficult to slide into the jig. So I decided to make a former for the lower cap strip also. I steamed a couple of cap strips and they fit into the lower cap strip location very easily. Glad I took the time to make the lower former also.

The upper former was made from 2-2x12''s, planed flat and glued together.
The lower former was mad from 2-1x8's. Not as much curve.

I made extra prints of Bernard's large, long rib layout and glued them to the former for cutting the curves.
