Brief Description: Building parts SNX-F13-03L/R & first screw-up!
Worked on part #'s SNX-F13-03L/R. These parts need many pilot holes drilled at all different locations and spacings. Despite my carefulness in measuring, I still measured incorrectly and had my first major screw-up with the build. I apparently marked the position of the first pilot hole of a row of eight pilot holes incorrectly. Since the spacing of the subsequent holes are measured from the first, if that hole is wrong, then all the rest will be wrong too. That's exactly what happened on part #SNX-F13-03R. There is no way to salvage the part so I will have to make another.
The most difficult thing about these particular parts is that the drawing shows a part that does not exist and you have to interpret the correct part from the non-existent drawn part. The drawing shows the right-hand part with slots on it that don't exist on that part. They exist on the left-hand part, which is not drawn. It would have made more sense for Sonex to draw the left-hand part, showing the correct locations of the slots, and just indicate that the right-hand part is just opposite but without the slots included. Seems to be a very backwards way of depicting this on the drawing.
