Brief Description:  Wing root cuff fitting

Today I fitted the wing-rootcuffs to the wing and windshield. The cuffs are made of plastic heat formed (factory supplied). The cuffs are intended for the stock windshield installation, and I had been warned that they do not closely fit the acrylic windscreen installation.

I trimmed most of the excess material from the cuff blanks and then started a trim and fit, trim and fit process to sneak up on the closest fit possible. Again, I had been told that I would probably have to heat up the cuffs to alter their shape somewhat to get a descent fit on the acrylic windscree, and that was the case.

Once I got the cuffs to fit as close as I thought I could I secured them in place with tape, laid out a hole pattern for the attaching screws, the drilled undersized holes through both the cuff and the windscreen/wind metal, cleco'ing them in place as I went.

Next up was painting of the cuffs to match the wings. Does anyone make a measuring cup small enough to mix as little paint as you need for such small parts? Anyway, I took the cuffs home and painted them with the Superflite paint to match all the other parts.
