Brief Description: Fitted left axle and brake plate
Fitted the left axle and brake backing plate to the main gear leg. This took longer than it should have due to the brake plate being relocated to a position between the axle and the main gear mounting plate to accomodate the larger wheels and tires. I had to modify the brake plate to clear around the weldment on the mounting plate of the main gear. The mounting plate is welded to the end of the gear leg and the weld bead stands proud of the flate mounting plate. On the original assembly, the axle has a space milled on the surface that attaches to the gear leg to allow the weld bead clearance. The brake plate goes onto the outside surface of the axle. On the "Bush Tire" option the brake plate goes on between the axle and the main gear mounting plate. The brake plate had an interference problem with the weld bead. I had to file out material to allow the weld bead to fit into the brake plate opening. As the axle is heat treated I could not file or grind on it, so I remove a small amount of material from the brake plate.
