Most people that get into kit planes, do so because it is a cheaper way to own their own aircraft. Some like the building process as much as owning and flying their plane. The allure of a seaplane to me is that it is the only plane you can own, keep and fly from your home without living at a airport or a fly-in community. All you need is lakefront property.
