Brief Description: Remove tail and fix swivel bolt cotterpin hole
Today, I purchased (3) 5/16" drill bits to replace the one I broke inside the keel trying to add a cotterpin hole to the swivel bolt on the bottom of the tail.
I unbolted the support rods for the tail, unfastened the top bolt from the tail and the support tongue and remove the tail from the gyro.
On my bench, I worked the broken 5/16" drill bit from the hole and redrilled the hole straight through.
Mimi helped me put the tail back on the gyro and I finished fastening the bottom tail swivel bolt.
There is little room to work the bolt inside the keel. Using a 1/2" closed-end wrench, I slowly added the fender washer and (2) grade 8 5/16" washers (recommended to me by Steve Brueggemann) and wrenched the castelle nut into place.
