Brief Description: Layout and Pilot Drill Lower Stab Skin
Using the bottom skin edge and center-line as reference datums I layed out the lower stab skin hole locations as follows (this layout was confirmed with the method outlined in my post from 8/29/11):
Rear Spar line: 11mm from the rear edge (distance to rivet line marked on spar). Results in the rear skin edge falling on a plane formed by the rear spar web. Front Spar line: 295mm from the rear edge (distance to rivet line marked on spar) Center Rib lines: 160, 480 and 840mm either side of CL End holes in Center Ribs: 33mm and 273mm from rear edge (approx 10mm from ends of rib flanges). Results in 240mm between end holes which perfectly matches the 60mm pitch specified for the 5 rib rivets. Spar line spacing: 40mm pitch perfectly fills the gaps between all center ribs. Had to compress this distance slightly between the outer center ribs and end rib lines. End Rib lines: 1093mm from CL. Tip Ribs: Will be layed out after I get these parts.
Image 1 was taken to show the rivet spacing layout from the center line out to the end rib. This layout matches ZAC's pre-punched layout shown in Image 2.
The layout was verified one last time to the frame before the holes were punched and pilot drilled onto the work bench.
