Brief Description:  Dimpled left wing ribs and clecoed on top skin

It is finally time to rivet on the wing skins. First, I had to dimple the wing ribs for the left wing. Then, as per the plans, I slightly countersunk the dimpled holes on the aft spar. They are ,040" thick and they don't dimple quite as well as the thinner ribs and skin. A little countersinking action helps the skin fit tighter. I simply used the deburring bit with my power screwdriver to touch each hole. Next, I clecoed on the inboard and outboard top skins. The plans call for you to file the upper middle corner of each skin where they overlap so it does not stick out so much at the leading edge. With the skins on, I marked where I needed to file, then I took the skins off to file a sort of scarf joint to make the skins lie flat at the leading edge junction. Then I spot primed where I had filed the skins. Last, I clecoed the top skins onto the left wing FOR THE LAST TIME! I put a cleco in every other hole so that the skin will be tight during the riveting process. I am going to back rivet the top skins with a special long back riveting set (made just for this process) I bought from Avery tools. This, with a special 3 pound bucking bar. Is guaranteed to do the trick. Before I cleaned up the shop, I put the backriveting set in my rivet gun and measured it against the wing ribs. Fits just like it is supposed to. It may be a few days before I can procure a riveting buddy, so I will proceed to similarly prep the right wing tomorrow. Sorry, no photos tonight because the camera bateries died and I can not find my charger. It must be at work.
