Brief Description:  Rudder completion

Once everything was fitted, the rudder went together very smoothly. A few holes had to be re-drilled lightly to get the rivets to fit, but that was about it. Oh, I did install the counterbalance weight about 1/8" too far foreward on the foreward spar, so it prevented the foreward skins from attaching properly. I just took the weight off and filed down the tops of the leading edges, It only took off a slight amount. Not enought to affect the 2 1/2 pound mass of the weight. I clecoed everything after carefully positiong the wood supports as mentioned before. I then riveted evenly from the trailing edge foreward as specified in the directions. It probably wouldn't have taken me 5.5 hours if I hadn't fought with my rivet gun the entire time. I'll be searching for a new one before the rest of the tail kit gets here. By the way, I didn't forget to add anything. Chris Heinz makes his tail surfaces full motion. No rudder or elevator tabs. Just trim tabs on the horizontal stabilizers. But more on that later!
