Brief Description:  Rudder horn attachment

The directions say to close up the entire rudder before attaching the rudder horn. I thought this would make things more difficult, so I closed up one side of the rudder, then left the other side open to make it easier to clamp the horn for install (as can be seen below). The directions say that the location of this part is critical, so I didn't want it slipping while I was positioning or drilling it. Even so, it took about 20 minutes just to measure our where the holes went, and quite a bit longer to position it perfectly on the rudder. It sits in an odd place, which made it even more difficult to position properly. Once the first cleco was in though, everything went as normal. One thing I did agree with was pre-drilling the horn before positioning. The directions didn't say to do that to the upper hinge brackets and they ended up moving slightly on me while drilling. From now on, I'll be pre-drilling large metal stock BEFORE positioning and drilling on the assembly. (this is probably a no brainer for most, but it's my first project, what can I say???)
