Brief Description:  Made Root Close Out Panels.

So - I had every evening over the past week scheduled for airplane projects. I spent last Sunday painting the gap seals and wing closeouts, and when I left my shop at just after midnight on Sunday night the entire building was right at 80 degrees. When I returned at 9:00 the next morning I found that several water pipes in the ceiling of my office building had frozen and burst, filling the building up with about 2 inches of water... My priorities changed and I spent the entire week working to get my building and business up and running again -- Ugh....

In the process of drying out my building, a bunch of office furniture and other items got moved into my paint booth area, so for the time being, I am unable to paint, and am working on whatever I can to get the wings ready to install on the fuselage without needing paint.

I fastened the gap seals in place. There was not enough room to get my rivet gun in place without damaging the paint, so I bent the stem of each rivet about 10 - 15 degrees, and then placed a wheel collar from my model airplane stash on the stem as a spacer while I pulled each rivet tight.

Then I started with the root end covers. When I painted my wings, I masked off one of the root ends such that some of the aluminum that didn't get painted would not be covered by the stock parts. I noticed this before I painted the opposite wing, so now I have a mis-matched set. I intended to go back and touch up the missing paint areas, but I decided it would be easier to just cover it all up, so I made some smaller plates out of 0.016" thick aluminum that will cover up the root end of the wing between the stock covers and the spars.
