* -- By far the most frustrating part of the build so far -- When I started this project I purchased a cheap (about 200.00) laptop computer for keeping this log. I guess you get what you pay for as the POS crashed this weekend. I lost all of my build photos that had not been posted, and despite having backed up about half of my writings I spent several hours rebuilding the blog by cutting and pasting off the internet copy. -- Back up your .mdb file often....
* I have a set of AVEO LED ultra's for the strobe / position lights. I could not find 18 ga. 4 conductor shielded wire, so I am using 3 conductor shielded wire with the shield acting as the ground wire.
* I purchased some solder sleeves to connect a short ground wire to the shield, but I was not totally happy with the resulting connection. It seemed that there was not enough solder within the sleeve, so I ended up soldering the wire and shield together, and then installing the sleeve - and I slept like a baby....
* I purchased my strobes from a source other than Rans, so I had to provide my own grommets for the end ribs. The grommets I had were for 1/16" thickness, and the ribs are very thin. To prevent the rib from cutting through the grommet, I made some small plates out of .040" scrap material.
