A rare occurrence during the summer months - I had the entire weekend as shop time to make progress on the wing assemblies.
Comments:
* The manual recommends corrosion protection between the ribs and the rib clips. I set all the clips on a 2X4 and painted them with primer.
* I used a bolt and nut to chuck the spindle up in a drill press and used emery cloth to achieve a light press fit on the aileron bell crank spindle bearings. I used a dremel and a sanding drum to size the bell crank to the spindle.
* RANS sent an updated wing section for my build manual. The old manual indicates several ribs are to be modified according to images 5C-9 A thru E. the new manual only lists A thru B. The C thru D pages need to be completed (E is just drilling a hole for the stobe wires, which I left for later).
* The stringers are fragile until in place. I had to un-cleko about half the ribs to get the bottom stringer in place under the compression tubes. I also had to trim about 1/16" off each stringer opening to allow the rivet holes to line up with the rib tabs.
* The tip bow spreads the spars preventing the last few ribs from fitting well. Similar to others, I used a ratchet strap to pull the spars together. The tip rib looks unhappy (banana shaped) until the stringers are in place.
