Brief Description:  Skybolts and Misc Items

At this point in the build there are a lot of little details that are being completed and it's hard to list and log them all. It is getting more like working on a punch list when they are in the final stages of completing the build on a new home or some project from a manufacturing facility.

Anyway....Rob came over on the cold Saturday with the idea he would rivet in the sockets for the Skybolts which he got completed. Prior to doing the Skybolts though, we wanted to get the final fiberglass repair on the left side rear edge of the upper cowling complete so we could cleco things in place and get that portion done before putting in the sockets.

If you recall in an earlier log I had scarfed and laid fiberglass on the back side of the left side upper cowling due to a gap from the initial fitting of the cowl. So after putting on the cowl and marking and making a cut and several fittings and sandings we had it looking good.

Rob started tackling the riveting of the Skybolt sockets while I laid down inside the cockpit area working on things. I had to put a clamp on the BAV that came in from ACS. It would have been easier to do without putting things into the panel but we wanted to keep that going when Ralph was here so all I had to do is remove the Garmin 507 autopilot control box and I had all the access I needed to get the clamp on. I also worked on tying and neatening up wiring.

Another good shop session.....thanks again Rob for the assistance!!!
