Brief Description:  Fuselage and Control Work - Part Deux

Rob continued what he was doing the last session he came over which was working on the pitch control system.

As he worked on the bellcrank and got it installed he noticed that the forward mounting head of the bolt on the Garmin servo was really close to the shop heads on the bellcrank bearing.......about 1/64th or less. That was too close so he removed the bolt again and we removed the washer from the servo bolt and squeezed the rivets slightly more which produced over 1/16th clearance....if the bellcrank gets that much slop.....you have bigger problems anyway!!!

With all the control system completed he went on to installing the baggage floor with pop rivets and then put the rest of the panels in using clecos for now since we may have to get in there to the servo or make linkage adjustments during the final flight prep.

We went on to get the flap weldment and parts and got them installed. I have an AOA flap position micro switch that had to be installed on the right side. We placed the flap motor in, but sometimes you outsmart yourself. I decided to use nutplates as opposed to bolts and nuts....well the problem is that the flap upper bracket doesn't have room for a socket....oh oh! So I have to get a 3/8ths socket and make a thin wall socket to fit in there to torque the two bolts....or remove the nutplates. Can you say Harbor Freight!

That's where the session ended.....many thanks again to Rob for using his free time to come assist me instead of sitting and lounging around the house!!!
