Brief Description:  Firewall Pass Thrus & Cables

While Rick and I were working the canopy, Rob decided to tackle the firewall pass-thrus for the three engine control cables and the alternate air cable. He meticulously marked the position of each and proceeded to drill the holes for the ball joints.

The cable pass thru positions were already drilled but we ended up moving the propeller cable hole due to problems with the initial location encroaching on a firewall structural angle. We decided to use that location for the alternate air cable. Rob worked hard to re-center the holes by using a unibit and sanding drums to get them all even spaced correctly.....they all came out great!!!

We then started talking about the engine control cables and something I had totally overlooked! I made a custom throttle setup and the position is further back than Van's location. THAT MEANS THE STANDARD CABLES WON'T WORK!!! We discussed and began to play musical cables to try and figure out the "fix". When all was said and done it appears we can use two of the three cables....but more to research on that with the exhaust to see if we need further routing length for the cables.....that will be determined in the next episode!!!

It was great working with to guys with so much talent and experience
