Brief Description:  Wheel Fairing Parts

I had other things to tend to tonight but I am trying as much as possible to get some work in every night if at all possible to get this project to completion.

I decided to tackle the deburring and finishing of the parts for installing the wheel fairings. I got to working on them. The smaller parts that will hold the outside of the wheel fairing to the end of the wheel axle were pretty straight forward and didn't take long.

I then got the 1/8 inch thick parts that hold the inside portion of the wheel pants and started working them. These parts are machined via CNC sheet metal machinery at Vans. The machine must have been an older one or had dull cutting dies as there were big nubs that had to be cleaned up and filed to get a good finish on the perimeter......it took a while but I finally got them all cleaned up.

I received my wheel bearing grease recommended by Grove for my wheels. They call for either Shell 22 or Mobil 28 grease. There is NO Shell 22 to be found anywhere on ACS or other vendors. I am certain that just a can of wheel bearing grease from the local Advance Aviation and Auto parts store would have been sufficient...but I felt....why not get the good stuff....it lasts quite a while in reality....so I just ordered the Mobil 28. The problem is it comes in a grease gun tube as they didn't sell it in a can....so I squeezed it out into a plastic container that fit it perfectly and I marked it with the contents. I can put it in my toolbox and it is a lot easier to use.
