After matching up each elevator in neutral position, I saw that the left horn was fatrher back than the right one. This is common as parts vary during the manufacturing process.
Instructions call for marking the hole on the horn that is most reaward. That meant the left one. So I marked the hole location as per the print. As I looked at the location and the alignment with the right elevator horn, I noticed that the bottom edge of the right horn was also higher then left by close to 1/4 inch. This could pose a problem with the edge distance of the hole to the bottom edge on the right horn. I saw no reason why the hole couldn't be relocated a little further up on the left horn while keeping the dimension parallel to the front surface. Anyway, I felt that I would take photos and run it by the folks at Vans.
The following day I spoke with Sterling at Vans. The crux of the matter is that I moved the hole about 3/8 of an inch and it appears to be fine. we will see what happens as I move forward with the project. I have always gotten good customer service....it seems like I speak with Sterling most of the time...sumetimes Gus....either way they always get me pointed in the right direction.
