Well....this was a tough work session. As I expected the HS-810 rib, being narrower than the HS-814 ended up having the rivets closer to the skin. The rivet removal tool did not fit as well and some rivets came off well, but when all was said and done I had one hole on the Left Spar and three holes on the Right Spar that got messed up. The HS-810 fared better since I did not drill very deep into it.
Anyway I sent an email along with photos to Vans to have them look at it and give me their opinion. Their SB calls for a number of additional rivets being installed in the center "box" area that is bordered by the rivets seen in these photos. Anyway if there is any question then I will replace the spar(s).
The reason I have decided to do the SB now is in case I have to order parts that have been messed up during this SB then I could just have them shipped with my finish kit since there is no big rush to get the parts....trying to save some money on shipping!! My building buddy Jim in DFW had this idea and I thought it was brilliant! So stay tuned....we will see what happens......
