I took time on Sunday and Monday to finish the RV-10 covers....and shipped them to Rick on Tuesday.
In a way is was a nice diversion from the project as I love machining now and then. Photo 3 shows the parts made or modified.
The RV-10 cabin and door covers have different hole pattern locations. So I made a fixture that would use two dowel pins to locate the parts and two screw holes to hold it down while machining. I was able to cut the cabin covers then shifted down to the second location on the fixture and cut the door covers. The door covers had a caveat to them in that the holes were shifted .040 for hinge slop to be shifted to one side. Rick is a real detailer in this manner. So I wrote a program and ran the parts. Unfortunately it is time intensive by the time all the processes are run, programs written, and parts completed. The cabin cover also required a .025 boss to be milled in the back in order to fill a gap between the hinge and the cabin surface.
In addition I modified the rod ends for the door struts and made spacers to fit in the rod end holes.
