Brief Description:  Complete Install/Rig Flaps - Install Magnetometer

Another decent work day in the shop.

We worked on getting the flaps finished up. The flap fairings that fit on the fuselage require quite a bit of work....not exceptionally hard but a lot to do. They really need to be solid rivets but we already riveted the floor of the fuselage on so in reality that wasn't an option. Between Rob and I we had a couple different cherrymax rivets that took care of the job well.

Then there was rigging the flaps to match the aileron rigging that took some time playing with rod ends. Then there was clearing out the holes that the rod ends pass through a little more for clearance. Overall it is a lot of fussin and fiddlin but in the end the ailerons and flaps are complete and rigged. Rob had to leave to take care of family stuff in the early afternoon.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the airplane, mild mannered mechanic Ralph Clark was working with the magnetometer. He had fabbed a bracked and was getting it on the airplane for completing the installation. The instructions require the magnetometer to be within 3 degrees of level and parallel to the longtitudinal line....Ralph nailed them both as we had a digital level to determine they were just so!

It always seems that when Rob and Ralph are there....one is always laying on the ground....I have the toughest job of all......keeping the workers from slakkin on the job! hahaha

A big thanks again to both Rob and Ralph for the extra sets of hands!
