Brief Description:  Wing Bolts, Ailerons, and Wiring #1

Another great day at getting the airplane together in Final Assembly area of the hangar. I actually added a category in the build log for "Final Assembly" since it involves so many areas and during a session a variety of things are done. So it will be a category of potpourri of activities and events that may work best in a category of its own.

So we had a brief discussion when arriving at the hangar of our overall attack strategy and item punch list. It is great having Ralph and Rob with multiple experiences with Rob having built his RV8 and RV7 and with Ralph building his RV9 and tackling the challenge of Purple Passion (Problem) with everything he had to do on that....it was probably in many ways more of a challenge than building a new kit as ther was so much to repair and rebuild. Anyway with a plan we got started.

Since we planned on putting on and rigging the ailerons we knew the wing bolts needed to be installed and final torqued or the push tubes would be in the way. We made that first priority and using Rob's brass mallet and the rivet gun we actually got them in within short order. The mallet worked ok on the top large bolts but that was about all....not much room to swing. Ralph had the idea of the rivet gun with a brass tip....it worked spectacular!!! So with bolts out of the freezer and heat gun down each hole prior to inserting bolts...they went in easily. The biggest problem we had was some adel clamps and wires which had to be worked around. Got the torque wrench and got them all torqued!
