Brief Description:  Prime Fiberglass Parts

I wanted to get the parts primed on Friday after getting off of work but by mid morning the wind was kicking up and getting stronger all the time. It ended up blowing to 35 kts to needless to say my decision to forego priming yesterday was a good decision.

Today I we had family over.....but they were going to DC to do some sightseeing. That gave me the opportunity to head out and prime. I grabbed some lumber I had lying around and put together "The Rack" to help hold parts while I shot the primer.

The parts were all prepped and I used the tack cloth to get the final crud off. -PI got all the hangers together that I needed for the smaller parts. I put two lag hooks on the rack that I could hang the lip of the prop hole area to hold the cowl while I was spraying them.

The Stewart Systems Eco-poxy primer is some really thick stuff. I got that stired but it is still more like a paste then a paint. You have to mix the Part B catylist and water with it which makes things really thin to withinn the paint category. I started by mixing 400 grams and shot primer on the smaller parts. I mixed another 600 grams which was a large portion of the quart can that I bought. I shot all the parts and the outside of the cowls. That leaves me the canopy skirt, both wingtips, and the inside of the cowls to do.....so I know I need to order another quart. I go like what I am getting with the Exo-poxy......so we will finish things with it.
