Brief Description: Vertical Stab Fairing and Oil Door
Went out again tonight and decided to start working the vertical stab fairing where I laid some micro. I used a large plastic trash bag to tape and fold to produce troughs that would keep the water of the horizontal stabs as I prefer to wet sand when able......the plastic bag worked good and the gritty water fell to the floor. I got a lot of it worked but it still needs more sanding.
I went inside to lay more SuperFil to the couple areas of the oil door perimeter that needed attention on the gaps for the perimeter. I think this should be the last of the filler (hopefully} so I can call it good.
One of the things I purchased to help me on both the fiberglass and some metal work is a set of riffler files. I used to use these in my machining day of working in a shop making plastic injection molds. They are used in moldmaking and tool & die making. They have various shapes and curves. A good set will cost several hundres dollars. Well I don't need a good set as I am not using it for dies and molds, so I found a set on Amazon for $50 that I can use for shaping the fiberglass and the set actually works well. I have been using them to help shape the fiberglass contours especially for the oil door but other things as well......worth the investment.
