Brief Description:  Modify and Fiberglass Lower Cowl

Started with the cowl last night to get the fiberglass laid in the clearance I cut into the honeycomb area that I removed for clearance of the mixture arm. I was going to lay fglass on the bottom of the cutout and then flox around the circumfrence but Rick texted me that he had done something similar and beveled the honeycomb and laid a piece of fglass on the bottom and up the sides to the bottom of the cowl. That seemed like a much better plan.

So I got the Dremmel tool with a sanding drum and beveled the circumfrence of the hole and prepped it. I cut a 5 inch circle of fabric out and laid it in the bottom of the hole and up the bevel to the bottom of the cowl. Laid down very nice and the single layer should be all that is needed to reinforce the area. Laid peel ply on the bottom and top and let it cure.

I need to address a foolish oversight I made years ago when I painted the inside of the fuselage. I masked everything off but forgot to put corks or something in the wing attach bolt holes. Not heavy amounts of paint just light but I still need to remove it.

I started with Q-tips and acetone.....no dice. I then used Goof-off and that works with just a little rubbing. All I have is regular Q-tips that bend when you apply pressure, so I am going to pick up some wooden stick Q-tips in order to remove the paint.
