Brief Description:  Cowling, Oil Door, Empennage Fairing

Started by getting the filler sanded. It seems to have caught the divots so I will go ahead and do the rest of the cowl. I will then follow up with a coat or two of smooth prime.

In the meantime I have to get the oil door put in so I grabbed one of my carbon fiber molds that I made and began to measure and draw lines. I got the door to the size that I desired and then finished it with radiused corners. I then laid it on the cowl and drew lines on where I wanted to trim the cowl opening to get it to finish size. I left a 1/2 inch lip all around to support the door.

I am using the "hidden hinge" that I bought from Avery's years ago. So now I have to locate the hinge and the door to get everything aligned in place. The recess that Vans gives in the pink cowl is really exctptionally large in my estimation, so I trimmed the door and will build up with glass in order to fill in the recess. I reduced the door size about 3/4 inch in length and width which I think looks better asthetically. I then added more filler on the cowl for sanding tomorrow.

I went back to the empennage fairing and sanded all the micro I used to blend the fairing and cover holes that I won't be using to finish the session.
