Brief Description: Sand Lower Cowl and Clean Fairings
It was a beautiful day today so after finishing the days work I headed out to take advantage of the weather as tomorrow would not be as nice.....rain is coming.
I continued my Superfil experiment.....after laying the superfil on the cowl several weeks ago it certainly was cured. I began to use 150 grit sandpaper and a sanding block. It worked well and I got the first half completed. I then decided to try the orbital sander on the other half. I carefully used the sander being careful to not go all the way down.....I wanted to leave some for finishing by hand.
The sander worked well.....it knocked off a lot of the excess quicker and easier. I then finished the second half by hand. The Superfil worked as I had hoped.....the cowl is very smooth as the filler had filled the holes which should now make it an easy job to cover with the Smooth Prime. The upper cowling needed about 6 coats of Smooth Prime.....this one should only take 3 coats.....we will see.....
I then finished the session with digging clay out of the remaining two fairings.
