Brief Description:  EGT/CHT Wires & Lower Baffle Tensioners

Today I got started on the baffle tensioners which hold the curved part of the baffles around the cylinder heads to force the cooling air around the cylinder heads for keeping the engine cool. In the aviation world every aspect revolves around "keeping a cool head" haha.

Vans gives you stainless steel rods to bend and feed into the two ends of the front and back cylinder baffles inderneath the cylinders. I have decided to take a different approach. I made some tensioners out of stainless steel screws and drilled a hole for safety wire to be fed through and then I will use twisted safety wire between the front and back screws. One screw is short and tightened to be stationary the other is longer and adjustable in order to keep everything tight if the wires loosten over the process of time. I think it should work well. I installed them in the baffles and will run the wire next session.

Ralph was cooking in his hangar working on an RV8 he is fixing that we have dubbed "Purple Problem". It is being repaired after a prop strike but more and more problems have been uncovered in the process of repairing the airplane! Anyway Ralph texted and wanted to know if I was working in the shop as he would come assist and get some cool air. Of course my "cool air" lure is great to catch helpers....so Ralph came over and decided to work the CHT/EGT probe connections as well as the Red Cube......all are done!!!

Thanks AGAIN to Ralph for the help!!!
