Brief Description: Sand Landing Gear Fairings and Upper Cowl
Spent the day with Mom and my sister yesterday so no work done on the project.
I wanted to get the cowl and fairings through their first sanding but the clouds and rain were threatening to be a show stopper. It was dry and cloudy when I went out to work so I moved the saw horses outside and figured I would give it a go. The weather stayed dry until I was almost done with the second gear fairing then thunder bellowed and I brought the stuff inside. A little while later things turned better so I went back out to finish the gear fairing.
I then took the upper cowling outside and started geting it sanded. I was able to get the front of the cowl and the center section on top of the cowl complete before the weather came in again. I put the cowl inside and called it a day.
So far I am pretty happy with the job the Poly Fiber Smoothe Prime is going. It sands a little tougher than drywall compound and seems pretty hard. I used only 400 grit sandpaper and it barely loads up the paper and sands to a super smooth surface. I don't see any pinholes but there are a few imperfections that will be covered up in the next coat. I only have a small amount left in the can and will have to order more to get the second coat completed.
It is also water based and cleans up easily with soap and water.
