Brief Description:  Prep and Prime Fiberglass Parts

I wanted to at least get the priming to the halfway point by the end of the day. When I spoke to the folks at Poly Fiber about the Smooth Prime they told me to get 4 inch foam rollers at the hardware store to apply the primer. I bought some and got the primer and supplies ready.

The instructions from the Poly Fiber guy was to roll on three coats, allowing each to dry fully which depends on humidity....but generally two hours of so.

I recleaned all the parts and set up outside....which was a beautiful day with low humidity. I put some tape between the gear fairings in an effort to keep the paint out. I rolled a coat on the fairings followed by the upper cowl. I waited 2-2.5 hours between the second and third coats. The primer seemed very dry by the time I placed on the other coats.

After the third coat I allowed them to dry and set them in the shop for the night. The next step will be to DRY sand them with no more course than 400 sandpaper. We will see how that goes in the next session.....

In between I also changed the dessicant in the plug dehydrator.
