Brief Description:  Oil Cooler, Windscreen Fairing, and Top Cowling

Went for an overnight trip on Friday down to Greensboro NC to surprise Mom for a mothers day visit to take her out to lunch.....it was a great visit!

Got into the shop on Sunday afternoon and started sanding the windscreen fairing glaze where I covered the holes and pinholes from the previous session. I used a piece of somewhat worn 320 grit sandpaper as I wanted to remove the least amount of material as possible. It took a while but I smoothed all the glaze and lightly sanded the primer. More pinholes and one cavity reared their heads so I took time to fill them with glaze. They are getting less and less....not even a dozen this time.

While the glaze was drying I wanted to complete the bolt change on the oil cooler. I received a longer bolt from ACS for the one oil cooler bolt that supported the oil line as the adel clamp that supported the hose made the standard bolt too short. After replacing the bolt I also replaced the oil cooler support frame nuts with all metal locknuts that I had to order to replace the nyloc nuts as those nylon inserts should not be in the heat of the engine area.

Next I took time to sand the fglass I placed on the ramp transitions last session to blend them into the ramps.

Finally I sanded the glaze I put on earlier as it dries fast. I saw no new pinholes and shot a coat of primer on the windscreen fairing......will check for flaws tomorrow but I finally think I have it licked!
