Brief Description:  Canopy/Windscreen Fairings

Banner day yesterday. After a couple days of prep work today was finally the day of the fiberglass layup of the canopy-windscreen fairing. I have not elected to make a smooth transition on both the top skin and and windscreen but rather have a ledge on each side. This required multiple tape layers to be laid down to form the ledge which Rick had been doing.

Using epoxy with black dye he started laying the fglass while I provided new epoxy and brushes or whatever else was needed. I can see that one person can do this job.....but two really makes it better. We mixed black dye with the epoxy as that gives it a good finish from inside the windscreen. In addition to the regular fglass I had bought some carbon fiber glass and we laid two layers of that in the layers.

One important note: MAKE SURE TO USE SLOW HARDENER!!! I didn't have any and borrowed from Rob. Fast Hardener would be a disaster as it took us 4.5 hours to complete the process from start to finish.

While waiting till tomorrow for the windscreen to cure we decided to use clay and fglass and knock out the bottom gear fairings and then called it a day!

Some things just require someone with experience to assist and this canopy fairing is one! I am extremely grateful for Rick taking the time to come here and help with this part of the build!
