Brief Description:  Windscreen

Continuing on working the windscreen that is getting ever closer to the right fit. I had removed the rubber hose spacers that I had placed on the roll bar because they just do not work for the final spacing and have to be reduced in size in order to space the canopy correcty for laying the sika.

Ralph was playing bachelor this weekend and offered to come over for a while on Sunday. He came and we worked on getting the windscreen and the canopy aligned. I had a thought earlier in the morning when I woke up about not cutting the hose pieces smaller but using faucet washers for spacing the bow of the roll bar. I left early to go to Home Depot Aircraft Building Supply to get an assortment of faucet washers (ok...and drop off the trash at the dump....)

When I got back to working the windscreen I used a couple differnt types of washers....flat ones and beveled ones using a combination of both to get the windscreen level with the canopy. We had to cut down some but with the bevel it was easy to do in order to get the right height!

We got the canopy where it needed to be and made two clips for the front of the windscreen to hold it in place and to assist in bonding. With that all done I marked the windscreen on the top of the upper skin with a sharpie. I then masked off the area and Ralph was prepping for painting the surface with Scotch brite while I masked everything off and got plastic & paper to cover the canopy and the rest of the airplane.

I sprayed a couple of coats on the panel finished the work session to allow the paint to dry.
