I started by trimming the cowl since I could take it outside into the beautiful weather and do the trimming.
With that completed I went back to working the baggage door. I found that the locking pins extended enough to push on the rear bulkhead and the front firewall just slightly. I ended up trimming the pins on both sides in order to get them not to touch. I took about 1/16 " off each pin.
Then I worked on filing the sides of the baggage door. There wasn't enough clearance for paint so I draw filed both sides to get the clearance needed.
Finally I worked on the blocks. The Vans instructions called for drilling a hole through the firewall and rear bulkhead and using pins to align the blocks. I REALLY didn't like that idea! I once again called Rick and talked it through with him and worked out a process that will NOT involve a hole in the firewall or bulkhead. The blocks were a bit mommicked at the ends so I threw them in the mill to square them up. The blocks are also too thick and will have to mill them thinner also.....next session!
