Brief Description:  Duckwork Lights Modification

Rob called and asked if he could stop in at the house and check on the project as he heard Ralph was there also. Well I ordered us some grub and Rob stopped to pick up the to go order on his way to the house.

We ate when he arrived and being filled with fuel we set back to the basement shop to continue. Rob never just stops by to check it out....it only takes a few moments before Rob blurted out...."so what do you need me to do????"

Well immediately I thought of the wings and the need to pull out and replace the HID lights and ballast with the Aeroled lights that I bought for replacing the HID lights. The LED lights will have a far less current draw on the electrical system and I am able to remove the heavy ballasts and the maze of wires required for the lights as well as the ability to use smaller wire feeds to the LEDs.

So with Robs assistance we put one of the wings on the bench and Rob worked on removing the lens an light guts.....in no time he had it out. We found that it required that we make the light adjustmen tmount hole larger by a little more than 1/8 inch. I set it up in the milling machine and ran the program and got the hole enlarged.....Rob finished it by hand a little with a dremmel tool and sandpaper. Rob installed the light and lens and we put the wing back in the cradle and put the next wing up on the bench. Again Rob had the guts pulled out in no-time.

With that Rob had to call it quits for the day and heading back home......a great help today!
