I removed all the components of the flap system from the fuselage. Then I drilled the safety wire hole in the actuator that will go on during final installation. It isn't easy because the tube and angle you need to put a hole in makes it difficult....but we got er dun!
I unwrapped all the protective wrapping on the tailwheel spring and inserted it into the receiver. I went in easily and I decided to put the retention bolt in it just to make sure it all fit.....it did.
Next I began working on the mount for the fuel selector. Because I am using an Andair Fuel Selector the bracket provided by Vans is unusuable. So I began to ponder and design one. Fortunately I have a sheet of 1/8th aluminum that would work perfect for fabricating the mount. I decided to make it in two pieces in order to make the plate flush with the angle that is used for the longeron. I will be stepping through the process and designing something that will work. I am trying to place the selector mount in such a way that I can make some small storage compartments on both sides of the airplane for making small bins or cupholders etc. So I am going to keep that in mind as I make and place the bracket....but the design is just in it's infancy after tonights session.
