Brief Description:  Joined aft parts of the skirts

The left skirt at the aft end was curled down a bit which kept the lip from contacting the glass about 3 inches forward of the gap. I opened the canopy and slid a ½” thick board between the canopy and the skirt to keep from heating the glass. I used the heat gun to heat up the top upper edge near the very end of the skirt. After it became a little flexible, I used a piece of thin masonite between the edge of the skirt and the canopy and pressed down on the lip—held this position until the glass cooled. Removed the board and closed the canopy—fit was much better. I had been using a piece of .025 clecoed across the skirts to pull them together—there was still a gap of .09”, so I cut another strip and shortened the distance between the holes by the gap distance. When clecoed together, it completely closed the gap. I sanded the skirt area with some 80 grit and cleaned with MEK—then added some wax paper between the canopy and skirt. I mixed up some resin and wet out a couple of pieces of cloth. I added some flox to the resin and spread it along the joint. Then I added the wet out cloth over the joint—followed by some peel ply. I added a strap across the back of the canopy/skirt to keep everything in position. Tomorrow should be interesting—hope nothing goes BOING!
