Brief Description:  Canopy skirts-5

Fitting of the skirts continues. Spent a bunch of time cleaning up the fiberglass dust in the shop today—not logged as build time. Put tape along the lower tube of the frame and marked for drilling. Made a 1/8” spacer out a piece of a paint stir stick to go between the slide block and the anchor block. The builders manual says to block the canopy open 1/8” for fitting the skirts. I suppose the intent is to fit the skirts with the canopy partially open. Once they fit, shutting the canopy should result in a tight fit. I started with the left skirt. Instead of taping the front of the skirt, I stuck the handle thru the frame/skirt—this held the front in position pretty well. Worked much better than tape-which wanted to turn loose after only a couple of times of skirt on-skirt off-skirt back on. Got the left taped into position, then added the right skirt. Worked mainly on the back end—trimmed both skirts until they sorta fit. After I got them close, I drew a line up the back of each skirt using the center of the rail as a guide. Cut each skirt trying to achieve a smooth butt fit—got close, but needs just a bit more trim. Finally ran out of patience and “cool”-- temp was 106 today.
