Brief Description:  Fuel line plumbing-4

While waiting on ACS for tubing, decided to get the pump unit mounted. Scuffed and cleaned the mounting plate and shot with primer. After the primer dried, squeezed in a couple of NAS rivets to secure the nutplate. Mounted the filter with an adel clamp. Since this is a QB fuselage, I did not have access to the underside skin of the forward floor, so I elected to use nutserts. The 4 mounting holes had to be precisely drilled so that the pump unit could be attached to the floor. The pump housing is threaded so I needed a bushing for a drill guide. Found a piece of small tube (think it was left over from the pitot tube). The tube is slightly smaller than the holes in the mount, so I flared one end. The flare self centers the tube in the mounting bracket hole. I used a long #40 bit to go thru the tubing and drill thru the floor. Removed the mount and stepped the hole up to a D size. I put the mount back in and dropped a cap screw thru the bracket and into the just drilled hole in the floor. Repeated this for the other 3 holes. Reamed the holes to ¼” and installed the nutserts. Set the pump bracket in place and held my breath—the hex head cap screws fit thru the bracket and lined up perfectly with the nutserts! Since I used nutserts instead of nutplates, I will use locktite on the threads. Still need to get some wires attached, before the final mounting.
